What should I look for in a builder?
This is an area you have to do your research. A great place to start is with
your local home builders association. They should be members and ideally
have earned some designations from them that shows experience, education,
and the willingness to continue to be trained on an ever changing industry.
An example of a designation is the GMB (Graduate Master Builder).
This individual has to meet strict experience and educational requirements
to qualify and there are fewer than 1000 of them currently in the entire country.
In addition to the designations, you should speak with clients personally if
possible, get information on warranties, and ask to see the written policies
on communication so you know what to expect. An organized builder will make
the process much more enjoyable. |
